The AFP Tumor Marker test measures the level of alpha-fetoprotein in your blood. AFP is a protein normally produced in very small amounts in adults, but elevated levels can be a sign of certain liver conditions or tumors. Common reasons for testing include: Monitoring liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) Checking for germ cell tumors (e.g., testicular cancer) Evaluating liver disease (such as cirrhosis or hepatitis) Following up on treatment or screening in high-risk patients Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Results typically available within 2–5 business days Collection Available: In-office or via mobile service (mobile fee may apply)
