The C. difficile Toxins A&B / GDH Antigen Test detects the presence of Clostridioides difficile bacteria and their toxins using antigen testing. This test helps diagnose C. difficile infections, which can cause diarrhea, colitis, and other gastrointestinal issues. Why it’s done: To diagnose C. difficile infection in symptomatic patients To detect both the GDH antigen (common to C. difficile bacteria) and toxin A/B To guide treatment and infection control measures To monitor response to therapy or recurrent infection Specimen Type: Stool sample Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office (stool collection required)
