The CA 125 (OV) test measures the level of the CA 125 protein in the blood, which can be elevated in certain conditions affecting the ovaries. It is primarily used to monitor ovarian cancer but may also be elevated in other gynecologic or non-gynecologic conditions. Why it’s done: To monitor treatment response or recurrence in ovarian cancer To help evaluate ovarian masses or pelvic abnormalities To support ongoing management in patients with known ovarian cancer Occasionally used in combination with other tests for screening high-risk patients Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
