The CA 15-3 (BR) test measures the level of the CA 15-3 protein in the blood, which can be elevated in certain breast conditions. It is primarily used to monitor breast cancer treatment and detect possible recurrence. Why it’s done: To monitor treatment response in patients with breast cancer To help detect recurrence of breast cancer Occasionally used alongside other tests for evaluation of breast-related abnormalities Not typically used as a standalone screening test Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
