The Centromere Antibody IgG test detects IgG antibodies directed against centromere proteins in the blood. These antibodies are commonly associated with limited scleroderma (CREST syndrome) and other autoimmune connective tissue disorders. Why it’s done: To help diagnose CREST syndrome or systemic sclerosis To evaluate patients with symptoms such as skin tightening, Raynaud’s phenomenon, or gastrointestinal issues To monitor autoimmune activity in connective tissue disorders To support ongoing management and treatment decisions Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 2–5 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
