The Cortisol test measures the level of cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that plays a key role in stress response, metabolism, blood sugar regulation, and immune function. Why it’s done: To evaluate adrenal gland function To help diagnose conditions such as Cushing’s syndrome or Addison’s disease To investigate unexplained fatigue, weight changes, or high blood pressure To monitor cortisol levels during treatment for adrenal or pituitary disorders Specimen Type: Blood draw, saliva, or urine (depending on test type) Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
