The Flu A/B + RSV Panel uses PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology to detect influenza A, influenza B, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) from a nasal or throat sample. This test provides rapid and accurate identification of viral infections. Why it’s done: To diagnose flu (influenza A or B) and RSV infections To guide antiviral treatment and care decisions To monitor symptoms in high-risk patients, including children, elderly, or immunocompromised individuals To help prevent the spread of respiratory infections Specimen Type: Nasal or throat swab Turnaround Time: Typically 1–2 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile collection
