The Herpes 1 & 2 IgG test is a blood test that checks for past exposure to the Herpes Simplex Virus, including both oral herpes (HSV-1) and genital herpes (HSV-2). Why it’s done: To determine if a person has been previously exposed to HSV-1 or HSV-2 To help evaluate unexplained oral or genital sores For STD screening or partner testing To help guide counseling and management for long-term infection Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
