The Lyme Total Antibodies test is a screening blood test that detects both IgG and IgM antibodies produced in response to the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. This test is often used as the first step in Lyme disease testing. If results are positive or borderline, a Lyme Western Blot may be performed for confirmation. Why it’s done: To screen for possible Lyme disease exposure To evaluate symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, headaches, fever, or neurological issues after possible tick exposure To help identify both early and past Lyme infections To determine if further confirmatory testing is needed Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
