The MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) Screen detects the presence of MRSA bacteria, which are resistant to many common antibiotics and can cause serious infections. Why it’s done: To identify MRSA colonization or infection To prevent the spread of MRSA in healthcare or community settings To guide appropriate antibiotic treatment To screen patients prior to surgery or hospital admission Specimen Type: Nasal swab, wound swab, or other relevant sample Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile collection services
