This test examines a stool sample for the presence of intestinal parasites, parasite eggs (ova), and larvae that can cause gastrointestinal infections. Why it’s done: To diagnose parasitic infections of the digestive tract To investigate symptoms such as persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, or unexplained weight loss To screen individuals with recent travel, contaminated water exposure, or foodborne illness Specimen Type: Stool sample (collected using a take-home stool kit) Turnaround Time: Typically 2–5 business days Collection Available: Stool kit pickup or delivery; mobile collection available when applicable
