The Phosphorus (24-Hour or Random Urine) test measures the amount of phosphorus excreted in the urine. This helps evaluate how the kidneys handle phosphorus and can identify metabolic or nutritional issues. Why it’s done: To assess kidney function and phosphorus regulation To help diagnose bone or mineral metabolism disorders To monitor parathyroid gland function To evaluate causes of low or high blood phosphorus levels To investigate malabsorption or nutritional deficiencies Specimen Type: Urine (24-hour collection or random sample) Turnaround Time: Typically 2–3 business days Collection Available: In-office sample drop-off or mobile pickup (if applicable)
