The Smith (Sm) and RNP Antibodies test detects autoantibodies associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). Why it’s done: To help diagnose systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or mixed connective tissue disease To evaluate patients with unexplained joint pain, rashes, or systemic autoimmune symptoms To monitor disease progression or response to treatment To support differential diagnosis among autoimmune connective tissue disorders To assess immune system activity in patients with systemic autoimmune conditions Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 3–5 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
