The Sodium, Urine test measures the amount of sodium excreted in the urine over 24 hours or in a random sample. This helps evaluate kidney function and electrolyte balance. Why it’s done: To assess kidney function and sodium regulation To help diagnose causes of high or low blood sodium levels To monitor patients with hypertension, heart failure, or kidney disorders To evaluate the effectiveness of diuretic therapy To investigate symptoms such as swelling, fatigue, or abnormal blood pressure Specimen Type: Urine (24-hour collection or random sample) Turnaround Time: Typically 2–3 business days Collection Available: In-office sample drop-off or mobile pickup (if applicable)
