The STI Essential PCR test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to accurately detect the presence of common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) from a single sample. Why it’s done: To screen for common STIs including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis To provide early detection for asymptomatic infections To support sexual health and preventive care To guide appropriate treatment and reduce risk of complications To monitor high-risk patients or those with recent exposure Specimen Type: Urine, swab, or blood (depending on infection tested) Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile collection services
