The Toxoplasma IgM test detects IgM antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii, which can indicate a recent or active infection. This test is often used alongside IgG to help determine the timeline of exposure. Why it’s done: To evaluate for recent or acute toxoplasmosis infection To assess infection risk in pregnancy To help diagnose symptomatic patients with fever, swollen lymph nodes, or unexplained illness To distinguish between new and past infections when paired with IgG testing Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 2–4 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
