The Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO) test measures antibodies that target thyroid peroxidase, an enzyme essential for thyroid hormone production. Elevated TPO antibodies can signal autoimmune thyroid disease. Why it’s done: To evaluate for Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease To investigate symptoms of thyroid dysfunction (fatigue, weight changes, hair loss, temperature intolerance) To assess risk of developing future thyroid problems To monitor autoimmune thyroid conditions over time Specimen Type: Blood draw Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile blood draw services
