The Trichomonas Vaginalis test detects the presence of Trichomonas vaginalis, a sexually transmitted parasite that can cause vaginal or urethral infection. Early detection helps guide treatment and prevent transmission. Why it’s done: To diagnose trichomoniasis, a common sexually transmitted infection To evaluate symptoms such as vaginal discharge, itching, odor, or discomfort To test individuals after exposure to an infected partner To screen patients with other STIs, as co-infections are common To confirm infection before or after treatment Specimen Type: Vaginal swab, urethral swab, or urine (depending on protocol) Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile collection services
