The Urea Nitrogen, Urine test measures the amount of urea nitrogen excreted in the urine. This test helps evaluate kidney function and protein metabolism. Why it’s done: To assess kidney function To monitor protein metabolism and dietary protein intake To evaluate patients with suspected renal disease or dysfunction To help investigate unexplained fluid retention or abnormal lab values To support ongoing management of chronic kidney conditions Specimen Type: Urine (usually 24-hour collection) Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office sample drop-off or mobile pickup (if applicable)
