The Wound Panel PCR test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to rapidly detect and identify multiple pathogens in a wound, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Why it’s done: To identify specific microorganisms causing wound infections To detect hard-to-culture or fastidious pathogens To guide targeted antibiotic or antifungal therapy To monitor treatment effectiveness and infection resolution To prevent complications from untreated or resistant infections Specimen Type: Wound swab or tissue sample Turnaround Time: Typically 1–3 business days Collection Available: In-office or mobile collection services
